Universal Studios Orlando and Harry Potter World
Universal Studios Orlando and Harry Potter World
Wizarding World, Magic, Hogwarts, Wand, Prisoner of Azkaban, Order of the Phoenix, Wingardium Leviosa, Butterbeer, Hogsmeade, Hermione, Ron and Universal Studios in Orlando?
Still don‘t know what I am talking about?
Welcome to Harry Potter World in Florida.
If you are a family staying in Orlando, this is a must.
Theme Park Island of Adventure in Universal Orlando offers a journey of exploration.
You can visit seven themed islands, where The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is the biggest investment since their opening. Millions of guests are visiting Universal Studio Attractions per year,
Have fun discovering Marvel Super Hero Island, Jurassic Park, The Lost Continent, Seuss, Harry Potter World, Toon Lagoon and Port of Entry.
When visiting Orlando, you can visit theme parks every day, including Legoland, Wet and Wild and Walt Disney.
Because we have already visited Walt Disney Park in Paris and we are big movie and Marvel House Heroes fans (what is your favorite Hero?), we opted for Universal Studios.
We came quite early with free transport from our apartment located in Mystic Dunes.
We waited about 30 minutes before the park opened, so we were just walking around and having fun.
We also met new friends.
The first thing you will see is the Port of Entry with the Pharos Lighthouse. This is the most commercial part of the park with lots of opportunities to start spending money.
Trust me, you can spend a fortune in the park.
There are tons of shops with items ranging from souvenirs and Cinnabons. Merchandise can be bought from a variety of themed stores including Port of Entry Christmas Shoppe, DeFoto’s Expedition Photography and Islands of Adventure Trading Company.
A real highlight of the park is the mix of classical rides and stunning 3D projection systems.
We passed quickly through Seuss, inspired by the work of the author. Dr. Seuss Landing is focused on small children and is based on the works of the author. It has several Seuss-themed attractions such as Caro-Seuss-el, The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.
If you need to sit down, try Circus McGurkus Café Stoo-pendous, where you can just relax for awhile or watch acrobats twirl high overhead.
Food here is not my favorite because I only eat fried food and pizza occasionally. Nearby Green Eggs and Ham Cafe and Hop On Pop Ice Cream Shop offer ham sandwiches, green eggs, ice cream sundaes or waffle cones.
As the day went on, we visited The Lost Continent with Sinbad’s Bazzaar and mythological Atlantis-inspired Lost City. Part of Wizarding World cut off an area of what was formerly Lost city.
Poseidon is waiting.
Visit the Poseidon’s Fury indoor show with old-fashioned special effects. If you prefer theater-like shows, you should visit the live show The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad.
If you are hungry, now is the best time because Mythos Restaurant is one of the best theme park restaurant in the USA. Be prepared that Mythos is often overcrowded.
I love Kebabs. What about you?
But I am not hungry now beacuse even if I am not a big fan of the Harry Potter movies, I read lot about Wizarding World and Harry Potter Theme Park.
It took a stunning $265 million and 2 ½ years of construction.
This themed area has replaced the Merlin Woods part of the Lost Continent and covers almost 20 acres for Hogwarts Castle and Hogsmeade Village.
Ready for a ride?
Have you tried Butterbeer already?
If you hate standing in the lines at the Butterbeer Cart you can order Butterbeer at The Hog’s Head Pub. The Pub’s attached restaurant The Three Broomsticks Inn offers typical British Dishes.
I have read that Steven Jayson spent three years researching and creating menu items for the dining locations. Sorry, but three years for Shepherd’s Pie with salad or Fish and Chips is too long.
As a passionate magician, you need one thing: Magic Wand, the ultimate weapon in the world of magic.
Finally, we have arrived at Hogwarts Castle, the home of the flagship attraction. The top attraction is Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, which will take us on a ride through Harry Potter’s Wizarding World.
The Forbidden Journey located inside Hogwarts Castle is not the only attraction. Go for a ride on the Dragon Challenge roller coaster or Flight of the Hippogriff.
The lines were really annoying, but I understand that with so many visitors, it is quite normal. Try some rides during lunch and later afternoon. They will be less crowded.
You can shop in Ollivanders wand shop. The Hogwarts Express will connect the two “Wizarding Worlds” in each park soon.
Inside Hogwarts Castle waiting for The Forbidden Journey
Jurassic Park was a great movie, and I was wondering what it would be like if the dinosaurs were back again.
The top attraction here is Jurassic Park River Adventure, a water ride based on Steven Spielberg’s hit film Jurassic Park. This attraction alone is great fun, but the best part is watching people scream when plunged down an 85-foot waterfall to escape the jaws of a hungry T-rex.
Pteranodon Flyers is an easy-going ride with your feet in the air and perfect views from above.
Go with your kids and discover the world of dinosaurus by entering Jurassic Park Discovery Center. This is not the most amusing thing to do, but you can spend some time together, learn something, and calm down after all the adrenaline.
You can also escape the Orlando heat and crowds. Why not feel like a researcher and see a dinosaur egg hatch? You can even create dinosaurs with your face.
When leaving Jurassic Park, be careful. You never know……
We passed the Toon Lagoon to find our Superheroes. Do the Dudley Do Right’s Rip Saw Falls ride. It is crazy. We loved it.
Me and my son are big fans of Marvel Super Heroes. Here is our favorite one.
Wolverine and Adamantium claws
Captain America, frozen in a block of ice for decades.
If you like comics and heroes as we do, you will love it. However, it is a little bit overpriced.
Visit stores and comic book shop, and you will be in superhero heaven.
Now, the best is coming. Our top ride is called The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, with battle vilians in a 3D style. What can I say… amazing ride. There are high-tech 3D glasses, great audio, lighting and more.
If you want to turn as green as the Hulk, try the Incredible Hulk Coaster.
It’s an xtreme high-speed steel roller coaster which has a top speed of about 100 km/h and goes from zero to 40 mph in two seconds flat. You will be disoriented and pumped up with adrenaline.
Universal Studios Florida offers fun programs for you and your family for a whole day, but to be honest it is hard to stay on a budget.
Orlando offres a great variety of themed parks that are primarily tailored for families, but I would also try it as an adult who never grew up and loves fun.
