Indian Visa Online – How to Apply and Get an Indian Visa

We live in a day and age where most of our problems can be addressed online.

We are no longer bound by the need for bureaucracy, long terms, and long lines. The internet created a million of possibilities for people all around the world.

If the last century was called the century of speed, we are now heading to a warp speed to which even governments adhere.

Introducing Indian Visa Online

Until a couple of years ago, getting a visa was a weary process.

You had to go to the consulate of the country you wanted to visit.

You needed to stay in line, sometimes for hours depending on the time of the year, and then fill in an application.

But don’t you live under the impression that you received the visa right away. It would have been all worth it. But no, you had to wait a while.

Some countries even advised citizens to apply for a visa six months in advance, just to make sure that the government officials had time to process the application.

Seeing that getting a visa represents a real and legitimate issue for travelers, third-party companies decided to develop a business out of it.

And that is how websites like emerged. It is a private corporation that transforms a weary bureaucratic service into a means of getting a visa in just a few easy steps.

You no longer have to go to the consulate, you are no longer required to stand in line, and your visa is ready in as little as 18 hours, depending on the processing option you choose. The beauty of this service is that you don’t even have to leave your house.

About Indian Visa Status

One of the most frequent concerns about the Indian Visa is the status it holds.
As you may well know, the status of a visa is the legal category under which a person is admitted to India.

Not all classes are the same, and not all people have the same rights in India after they arrive. Just to make things clearer, if you have a Tourist Indian Visa, you cannot look for a job or apply for schools there.

Your rights are dictated by the Visa Status, and each violation is reprimanded. Keep in mind that a visa and the status of a visa are two entirely different things. Not both of them expire at the same time.

An Indian Visa can be released to people from over 150 states, and they are valid for a maximum period of 60 days. The e-visa for Tourism and the one for Business are valid for 60 days, and they allow a double entry, while the Medical visas are valid for 60 days as well, but they allow three entries.

Unfortunately, the service does not process student visas.

Regarding Indian Visa Requirement

Just because the application is processed entirely online, that doesn’t mean there are special requirements.

You need the same documents a consulate would ask. First of all, you need a valid passport. If you don’t have one, it’s about time you get that fixed.

If you currently own a passport, check its validity. You don’t want it to expire during the period of time you would be in India.
Otherwise, you will not be granted a visa.

Apart from your passport, you will need a recent digital photo of yourself, a scan of the information page of your passport, and a credit/debit card or a valid Paypal account. And that is all the service requires of you. Nothing more and nothing less. It’s the easiest method you can ask for.

The Indian Visa Application

In order to apply for an Indian Visa, you need to fill in an online form.

You don’t have to download anything, you don’t need to write it by hand and then scan it. All the information will be inserted in the boxes on the web page. The whole process would take a couple of minutes, and there are no confusing or hard to understand requests.

If by any chance you need help, there is a 24/7 assistance service provided for you. Just make a phone call, and a consultant will help you every step of the way.

The application consists of two stages.
The first step requires you to fill in your basic information, like name, address, birthday, passport number, etc. It should take you about 5 minutes to complete all that info. This part of the form also requires you to choose the processing type you want.

You can choose from the Standard Processing (which means you will receive the visa in 3 business days, and the service fee is 35$), which is the most popular.

Then there is the Rush Processing (it will add 30$ to your bill, but the visa will be ready in one business day), and the Super Rush Processing (you will receive the visa in 18 hours, but it will cost you extra 65$.)

Choosing the processing is entirely up to you, and unless you have an emergency that requires your presence in India right away, the Standard processing should be okay for you. The service states that you can apply 33 days before your date of arrival, but in reality, you can apply earlier than that.

The second step consists of a personal questionnaire, which is also quite straightforward, and photo uploads. You need to upload the documents required for a visa release (I mentioned them above.) And that is all you need to know about the application. The entire process was designed not to last longer than 20 minutes.

One of the things that people ask is if they can get a refund in case they cancel their vacation or business. The answer is yes, but only to a certain extent.

As long as your application hasn’t reached the Indian Government, you are a perfect candidate for a full refund. Otherwise, it is too late, and you cannot get your money back.

The Indian E-Visa

Once your application was processed, you will receive an e-mail with the confirmation, visa number, and visa validity. It is recommended that you print a copy of the e-mail and keep it with your passport, just in case anything happens at the point of entry in India.

So there you have it.
All you need to get into India is an e-visa. Just remember that the e-visa is valid for people who are traveling by plane and land on one of the 24 listed airports.

Also, until recently, you couldn’t use an e-visa if you went by cruise ship, but now that is possible as long as you go through one of the following seaports: Cochin, Goa, and Mangalore.
