Florida Keys, or familiar FL Keys and Key West, are not offering perfection, but they provide a unique combination of fantastic unspoiled nature, wildlife, raw beaches, sports activities, great seafood, and lots of sun.
If you look at the Map of Florida, you can see that Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon, Lower Keys, and Key West are connected by the Overseas Highway. Here everything begins.
The Overseas Highway and Seven Miles Beach
Great scenic ride over more than 200 km of ocean, this once-in-a-lifetime experience, is something that everyone should try.


The drive from Miami to Key West takes at about 3.5 Hours, so if you are traveling with kids plan extra stops and enjoy the Key Islands.


On your way, you will cross over 42 overseas bridges connecting the keys. The famous, Seven Miles Bridge, was featured in the movies 2 Fast 2 Furious and True Lies.


In 2009, the Overseas Highway was named an All-American Road, which is the highest recognition possible under the National Scenic Byways program, .


Fishing and Sailing

If you are an avid fisher or want to become one, then Islamorada is a great place to start.

Islamorada is now being called the Fishing Capital of the World, and you will quickly see why. “The Purple Island” with its crystal clear waters offers a variety of fish species including Tarpon, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Mutton Snapper, and Sailfish.

If you are not experienced with Sailing and Fishing, you can start your fishing career on a sport-fishing charter.


If you prefer sailing on your own, just get out on the water. It doesn‘t matter if you have a big boat or even a small one, sailing around the Keys is a must.

Or you can sail from Marathon to Bahia Honda State Park. Why not visit Dry Tortugas on boat? It is a great place to visit.

You can take a kayaking trip through the red mangroves or participate on Alligator Reef Lighthouse Swim, which is an 8-mile open-ocean swim off Islamorada.
